SHORT STORIES

Tales from The Deep Excerpt:

The man hooked a finger around the collar of his shirt and pulled to the side, revealing a small symbol burnt into his skin near his collar bone. Elmer knew exactly what it meant: this man was a member of The Deep, a network of people controlled by nothing but their personal principles. They were capable of doing whatever they thought best, even if it went against their own impulses and hopes. Bribery was probably futile. This man probably wasn’t hired by anyone. He probably wasn’t even a trained assassin, though he no doubt trained for this moment.

"The Captain's Dilemma" Synopsis:

It had been one thousand years since his ancestors’ first flight at Kitty Hawk. Cedric Wright was determined to revive their legacy and become a great flyer. Of course, that meant space ships these days. He became the most daring pilot of the Nantean Confederation and then the most feared smuggler of a pirate syndicate. He betrayed them both. To get away with it, he will have to make the Confederation and the pirates believe him dead, but he won’t go out alone.

ARTICLES

"Believe Something. Be Something." Excerpt:

Ideally, we should believe everything that we think is true and refine those beliefs as we acquire new information. That’s not how it works for us humans, though. Believing is a process, often a difficult one.

"Our Own Little Worlds: The Individuality of Perception and Consciousness" Synopsis:

We live in our own little worlds created by our unique experiences, beliefs, and imaginations. When we understand how our perceptions work, we can make our little worlds good. When we recognized the differences in our perceptions, we can understand one another.

POEMS

"Goodbye to the World" First lines:

You have nothing to offer me.
You want to trade me acceptance
for my uniqueness—No! The keeper of my soul
accepted me and freed me from your mangled mold...

"When Outcasts Meet" First lines:

I see you standing in my corner
with your hair out of order
and your feet turned in as though there’s a border
between you and everyone around.
That’s why you don’t make a sound...
