I didn’t cry when I finished my last book. I didn’t expect to this time, but I did. Maybe it’s because the last scene I was working on is the last scene in the whole book. (That’s rare in novel writing.) Maybe it’s because the messages in this novel are so impactful. The story could have an incredible impact if it gets out there. Maybe it’s because I have so many hopes and dreams riding on this novel. Maybe it’s for all those reasons and more.
I’ve been working on Heart of Ice for over three years, and I couldn’t be happier with how it came together in the end. I feel a sense of disbelief, though, as I take baby steps toward publishing. That’s the next leg of this journey. I have to get feedback from advance readers, try to get an agent, and… One step at a time.
