ABOUT ISAAC

Meet Isaac Philips, the author, editor, and board game designer

One day, a dyslexic twelve-year-old who knew nothing about novels decided to write one. I couldn’t find the book I wanted read, so I decided to write it. No matter how many times I had to rewrite The Unknown Hero, I never gave up, and I started writing short stories as well. I had fallen in love with the craft.

I’ve chasing the dream of becoming a known author ever since: studying English in college, teaching English, editing for whoever I can, and, of course, diving down every rabbit hole of psychology and philosophy. I endeavor to reveal the image of God through one-of-a-kind characters and the beauty of the narrow path through gripping narratives. We are most ourselves, most powerful and unique, when we follow the narrow path.

What makes my writing unique:

1- I’m passionate about the art of writing, not merely the stories it can convey. What makes one sentence more evocative than another? Why does one paragraph sounds choppy and another smooth? How I can manipulate those sensations to underpin the message of the paragraph?

2- I was a writer before I was a reader, so I had to develop my own style instead of imitating a favorite author.

3- I have no sense of belonging to any culture, group, label, etc. That allows me craft characters very different from myself without bias. My characters are truly individuals whereas, for many writers, characters are mixtures and manifestations of themselves and the people they know.

4- Because I see philosophy integrated into the design of reality, I'm able to present deep, abstract truths through the everyday experiences.
